Being Pre-med she finds it extremely important to be aware of the current public health issues. With a keen interest in medicine and health policy she is focused on national issues and joins the Cornell Student Society for Public Health as the National Committee Head. Dylan Birchard
National Co-Chair, Technology Secretary
Dylan
is a senior biology major and is interested in how education can be
used to help people make good decisions about their own health.
Through the CSSPH National Committee, he hopes to teach members of the
Cornell and Ithaca community about good health practices that will help
prevent chronic disease, slow infection rates, and promote general good
health. He spent the summer before senior year working for his county
health department and hopes to use those experiences on CSSPH
projects. Outside of school, Dylan enjoys photography, golf, playing music, and hiking in the many beautiful
natural areas around Ithaca. Marion Robine
National Co-Chair
Marion was born in Paris, France but now lives in Westchester, New
York. She is a sophomore in Human Ecology and a Biology and Society

whether she wants to go in medicine. She is hoping to figure out what
she wants to do soon. She is interested in public health issues both
internationally and nationally. This summer, she spent a month in
Honduras and will be interning in FAO for the rest of the summer, to
get a feel for both the work done by Public Health officials in the
field and in an office. She hopes to better understand the health
system and health issues at home through working with the National
Committee in CSSPH and to broaden her scope of possible careers. Evan Shreck
National Project Head Evan Shreck is currently a sophomore in Human Ecology, majoring in Human Biology, Health and Society. He was born and raised in Suffern, New York. Currently pre-med, he believes that focusing on public health issues will offer me a new perspective on medicine. Evan is especially excited to help spread awareness about global health issues that often go unnoticed by even the most prestigious Cornell students. He is eager to work together with the CSSPH board to examine fundamental national public health issues and make a difference within the Cornell community. Alyssa JohnsonInternational Co-Chair
Alyssa is a Senior Human Development major who is very interested in how the circumstances of a person’s life shape who they become. She wants to do healthcare related work abroad and plans on going to Latin America before (hopefully!) attending medical school. Recently she has become interested in understanding how many different factors, such as cultural norms or the number of trained medical professionals available affect a person’s health. She hopes that CSSPH can help make people aware of the vast health disparities that exist in this world, and that people will be motivated to try and make a difference.
Marc SeligsonInternational Co-Chair Marc Seligson is a junior in the College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences. He is a nutritional sciences major also
pursuing a minor in global health. Recently elected as the CSSPH
International Committee Co-Head. He wishes to pursue a career working
in international medicine, traveling to impoverished areas of the world
and helping those in need. He has done medical work in South America,
and will be returning next summer. This year he will be working to
develop an International Public Health trip for club members to attend. Angela Murray
International Project Head
Angela is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Biology and Psychology and minoring in Global Health. Since she is hoping to pursue a degree in medicine, Angela believes that basic healthcare is a necessity for all. At Cornell, she hopes to raise awareness of public health disparities at home and in other countries. She hopes to work abroad someday to ensure that everyone is able to live a healthy life. When she isn't studying in the library, Angela enjoys hiking, volunteering, purity ice cream, and reading.
Totini Chatterjee Secretary
Totini is a Sophomore Biology and Society major pursuing a minor in Biometry and Statistics. Having been born and raised in Houston, Texas, she was quite amazed by Ithaca's tremendous winter. She is very interested in doing healthcare related work in resource-poor regions of the world. After Cornell, she plans on attending public health school and then possibly going on to medical school. She believes that young people, when united behind a common cause, can make drastic changes in important areas of the world such as healthcare as well as education for children. Totini also really enjoys swimming, playing piano, reading, as well as traveling.
Thomas Tran Public Relations
Thomas is a junior in the School of Hotel Administration hoping to graduate in May 2010. He is the Treasurer of the Cornell Student Society of Public Health. She is very interested in the way health policy and education is planned and executed and is extremely interested in later working to combat HIV/AIDS. As Career Committee Chair she hopes to bring interesting speakers to show the complexity and scope of the public health field as well as help students broaden the possibilities of their career paths.
 Priya Mallikarjuna
Treasurer
Priya Mallikarjuna is currently a
sophomore in the College of Human Ecology under the Human Biology Health and
Society major. She was born in Long Island, New York. Because of her parent’s influence, and not to mention a
family full of doctors, Priya was exposed to the medical profession early in
life. Because public health and policy has been a subject for current heated
debates, she hopes to gain a better understanding of healthcare systems throughout
the world. As treasurer, Priya is excited to work with the other CSSPH members
in spreading awareness of various health related issues at Cornell and
providing community service opportunities to all who wish for a positive
change. Volunteering has always been one of her passions and she is thrilled
with all the prospects CSSPH has to offer on both the local and international
scale.
